What is Fair Trade? What is Fair Trade Organic?

Sample of a Fair Trade Logo

Fair Trade stands for fairness and global social responsibility in international trade and its goal is to create sustainable development.

Buying Fair Trade Products helps family farmers in developing countries gain a presence in the global market place. Farmers involved in Fair Trade programs receive a fair market price for what they grow and produce which leads to higher family living standards, thriving communities and more sustainable farming practices. Fair Trade empowers farming families to take care of themselves and reduces their need for foreign aid.

The Fair Trade Certified label guarantees:

A fair price

The Fair Trade Certified label guarantees that farmers and workers received a fair price for their product.

Better care for the environment

Many but not all Fair Trade Certified products are certified organic. If a product is fair trade certified and certified organic this means that the product you are buying not only helps support the livelihood of farmers in developing countries but also helps maintain biodiversity.

You will find a product that is both Fair Trade Certified and Certified Organic with two logos on the package one for the Fair Trade Certification and a second from the organic certifying organization.

Best of Everything to you,
